Tarring

Tarring

Tarring is the process of using a tar material to seal a roof, road or other surface. It’s most commonly used in roofing and road construction projects, as tar helps to protect against water damage and wear. Tarring is also used for waterproofing surfaces, as well as for protecting various surfaces from corrosion, weathering and more. Tar is a type of asphalt that is heated and mixed with sand and gravel. It is applied to the surface in hot liquid form and then allowed to cool and harden.
Tarring is most frequently used on flat roofs and shingles, as it helps to keep moisture out while providing a reliable seal against the elements. It is also used on driveways, walkways and parking lots. Tarring provides a waterproof and durable layer of protection that can last up to 20 years. It’s important to make sure that the tar is spread evenly and that the surface being sealed is completely dry before the tar is applied. For roofs, the tar should be applied in three separate coats for the best possible results.
It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions when applying tar to any surface. Depending on the type of tar used and the purpose of the project, additional materials may be necessary, such as adhesive, primer or sealant. Applying too much or not enough tar can cause problems, so it’s important to take your time and follow the instructions carefully.
